Graduate

Florida State University
MFA
Florida State University/Asolo Conservatory for Actor Training is a three-year graduate program culminating in a Master of Fine Arts degree through the Florida State University School of Theatre.

Requirements and admissions
Annually, the Conservatory auditions over 1,000 actors in four locations nationwide from which a maximum of 12 students are chosen.

The Asolo Repertory Theatre and Florida State University together fund the second year students study in London. Every student graduates with Equity eligibility, through work with the Asolo Repertory Theatre, as understudies in their first year, and as associate members of the acting company in their third year.

University of Florida
MFA
Admission to the Master of Fine Arts Theatre degree program is based on artistry and scholarship.

Requirements and admissions
Placement in the program will be determined through audition/portfolio review, academic credentials, diagnostic testing, and personal interview. Candidates for admission should have adequate training in theatre. Deficiencies may be corrected before beginning graduate study.

Actors and designers normally submit an application after a conditional offer of admission has been extended or upon request by the design or acting area faculty. Although there is not an official application deadline, admission decisions for the fall semesters are generally made between February and April.

The University of Florida's School of Theatre and Dance has an international faculty of 21 full-time and 11 guest or adjunct professors , who are recognized artists and researchers in their own right, and a staff of 10, including full time and part-time professionals.

California Institute of the arts

MFA
The three-year MFA Acting Program is designed for advanced student actors who are adventuresome, imaginative, and highly motivated. The admissions process is very competitive. The program’s curriculum focuses on all facets of each actor’s art and technique. It also strives to question commonly held assumptions about theater while exploring new possibilities.
This program accepts students only at the BFA1 (first-year undergraduate) and MFA1 (first-year graduate) levels. Acting student selections are based on the live audition only. Applicants are not required to submit a portfolio. Received acting portfolios will not be viewed or returned. The following is required for the live audition:
• Applicants must present two monologues (no longer than two minutes each) of contrasting nature. Choose one from Shakespeare. Faculty, however, may choose to see only one of the two. You should also prepare a third monologue to present at the faculty’s request.
• Applicants must bring a résumé and a recent photograph, preferably a headshot, to the audition.

Completion of an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited institution is required for admission to the MFA and MA degree programs at CalArts.

CalArts is committed to providing a well-rounded education for students. Through our Curating Your Own Life: Transitioning to a Career after CalArts program, students are exposed to a range of careers in the arts; opportunities to participate in career-related courses and internships; consultations with guest artists to gain familiarity with entrepreneurial approaches to their own work; and a Third Year Experience featuring career mentoring for all students.
